 Meet OFFLINE, wearable art by Scenic the Phoenix. In a state of mindfulness, we become one with the sun, the earth, and the sky. As a nature-based artist, Cecelia's practice is rooted in field research and contemplation of the living world. Through her art, poetry, and dreamlike designs, she imagines new ways of bridging our divides, and seeing the earth with kindred eyes.  In the global climate movement, we often find ourselves preaching to the choir. With her wearable art, including handbags, scarves, and kimonos, Cecelia invites collectors to be their own billboard. Art sparks conversations, and can help us win hearts and minds for protecting our planet. This particular photograph was captured on a twilight hike at Bull Creek using a multiexposure effect, the waves becoming diffuse and ghostlike in the darkness. These handbags are the result of 3+ years of prototyping to arrive at a sustainable, durable, and captivating design. The current form factor transforms throwaway acrylic into a unique and cherished accessory with handmade inlays carefully nested within a clear purse. The inlay is made from holographic cardstock, a recycled pair of black denim shorts, and a photosublimation as the feature image, sustainably printed on waterproof textile. The textile is sustainably printed in the UK, small batch and made-to-order to reduce waste. Although it comes at a higher cost to the maker, it's a worthwhile investment for conscious consumers looking to support good business practices, knowing there is a human and environmental cost to our decisions. Here's to being the change we want to see — every small spark fuels the revolution.
